SUZANNE BURKE SPENCER received her B.S. degree in Psychology in 1988, from Georgetown University, where she received High Honors. She attended the University of Hong Kong for the 1986 academic year through the Yale University Yale-China Association study program. She received her J.D. degree in 1993 from Fordham University, where she served as a staff member and associate editor of the Fordham Law Review.
In 1993, she joined the Litigation Department of the New York City office of the international law firm of Dorsey & Whitney and later relocated to Orange County, California. Before joining Smith ♦ Ellison, Ms. Burke Spencer worked in the litigation department of Buchalter Nemer.
Ms. Burke Spencer has handled a variety of business litigation matters for public and private companies, including financial institutions and mortgage companies, closely held corporations, and Fortune 100 companies. Her litigation experience includes unfair business practices, shareholder derivative actions, class actions, securities fraud, attorney fee disputes, legal malpractice, insurance coverage litigation and bad faith, real estate litigation, labor and employment, and other complex business litigation.
Ms. Burke Spencer is admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and in all state and federal courts in California. She is a member of the State Bar of California, and the Orange County Bar Association, and former member of the Peter M. Elliot Inn of Court and Orange County Bar Assocation Client Relations Committee.
